Blackout has gotten to be a bad word in Jacksonville as all of the Jaguars games have been blacked out. My question is do they really work? The NFL’s thought is that by blacking out the games you have to go to the game to see it but if you don’t have enough fans to go to the games how are you going to get more?
As I sit here listening to the Jaguars vs Chiefs game I got to wondering if I wasn’t already a fan would I listen to the game? The answer would be no. By not having the games on TV more and more fans will lose interest and that only makes things worse.
The NFL really needs to take a close look at this. How many people really go to the game because they can’t see it on TV? I would think that there wouldn’t be many these days. Also because your not on TV you start to lose the kids. You know the future fan base of your team. So the negative effects of blackouts keeps going.
In a market filled with music games it’s about time that you can rock with your Lego’s. This has been something missing in the music game field for years. Ok maybe not but it is nice to see a music game that is aimed more at family play. I like Rock Band but I have to pick the songs my kids can play. I picked this game up and will have a review shortly but here’s the trailer.
Looks like Modern Warfare 2 may be the first to do away with the party chat while playing their game online. Microsoft has given developers the right to turn off party chat while playing multi player games. Why you may ask. Well cheating. People use the party chat to tell their friends were the enemies are on the map.
While I can see this as being a problem turning off party chat would not be cool. I know I’m always in a party chat while playing. Most of the time it’s so I don’t have to listen to the other knuckleheads I’m playing with. The language and insults that fly over XBL are outrageous. If you are looking just to have fun and a good time then party chat is the way to go. It will be interesting to see how long this last or how many other games do this. Personally I think that this will not last long but until then you will have to chose to talk with friends or play online.
After yesterday’s bad loss to the Titans I think it is clear that Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio need to hit the road. This is the third game that the Jaguars have been blown out. Also it took the Jaguars until late in the second quarter to give Maurice Jones-Drew the ball. Oh year when he finally did Jones-Drew took it 80 yards for a touchdown. Then Jones Drew took another one 79 yards for a touchdown. So thinking should be that this guy is hot and give him the ball right? Not in Jack Del Rio’s thinking as Jones Drew only got the ball a total of 8 times. Yeah that’s right 8!
This is Jack Del Rio’s 7th year in Jacksonville and in that time he has gone three games over .500 and made two playoff births. Also since Jacksonville is a small market team and having trouble selling out they will need to have some excitement about this team. Coming off of two losing seasons isn’t the way to that but having a new head coach always brings excitement.
We’ll have to see how the rest of the season works out but Jack Del Rio may need to go ahead and put a for sale sign in the yard.
So far it’s really nice here went to Target and to a K-mart that was very run down. Also after lunch I took Sam swimming. She was able to swim from one side of the pool all the way down to the other side. I’m talking the long way. Also while at the pool I met this couple of Ohio. I talked to them far a short while before returning to Sam and her swimming. I looked over again and noticed that she was reading “Crazy Love” by Francis Chan. We talked about that for a little while. It’s been a very nice day so far and there is plenty left as Tricia gets off work in a couple of hours.
Just got in last night to Fernandina Beach. Spend the night and we have a really nice hotel. We are down here while Tricia is working at the plant down here. We had to get up this morning to take Tricia to work but before we did the fire alarm went off. So we left and took her to work. Later we found out that the fire alarm was set off by the waffle iron. We have a full day planned today of going swimming and maybe to the beach. Then tonight I’m taking Tricia out for her birthday.
So Sam and Nell are this couple that had a college ministry when Tricia was in school. She went there for a couple of years. A couple of nights ago we went to a dinner that was a reunion/in honor of Sam and Nell. Sitting there in the middle of a bunch of people I didn’t know I saw one thing, the love all of these people had for Sam and Nell. Also how much they had effected these people’s lives. It was a really cool thing to watch. Also got me to thinking that hopefully my life will be as effective and affect as many people’s life in a positive way. They helped grow college kids in their walk with Christ and that’s an amazing thing.
So yesterday we drove up to North Carolina to visit some college friends of Tricias. We stayed the night with Sherry (one of Tricias roommate on college) and her family. That’s going ok cause Sherry and her husband Jeff seem to be nice enough. Now we are getting ready to go on a picnic with 100 people I don’t know. Ok I know four of them. Then tonight we are going to dinner with all these people. This could be a long day. Hopefully all goes well and it’s fun but we will see.
Wet is an over the top shooter that tries to have an artsy feel. You play as Ruby a gun for hire. Ruby is very agile and very dangerous. She can shoot while jumping, running on the wall, or sliding across the floor. Also hit X at any time and she starts slashing people to bits. This game goes for an artsy feel in that the picture looks like it’s being shown on an old projector, you know scratchy and grainy. Also when you fail or die the film burns or breaks off the reel.
This game is way over the top and you get that right away. In the second level Rudy is jumping from car to car ,on the highway, while taking out bad guys. Wet does mix up shooting, sword play, timed jumps and some quick time events. The downside is this game is very repetitive. After a few levels you know what’s coming. There are one or two boards that are a little different but for the most part the all end the same.
The game does work pretty well and the story is passable. However there is plenty of curse words and I mean the big ones. Also there is plenty of blood and no filter to turn either off. Also for some unknown reason there is a scene that Rudy is in a cut off shirt and panties. No reason why she is dressed this way but just a heads up it’s in there. One play through will get you about 300 to 350 on easy and will take about 6 to 8 hours.
If you love shooters and are looking for something to play you will have some fun with Wet but I would not buy it, it is a rent at best.
It’s sad that one of the greatest sources, comic books, for video games rarely deliver as they should. The problem may be that people have in their mind how a superhero should act and respond. Well in Batman Arkham Asylum Eidos got it right. In this game you get the feel of what it is like to be and fight as the black bat himself.
The story starts out as Batman is taking Joker back to Arkham and when he gets there he finds out it’s all a setup. Joker has planned the whole deal and now Batman must fight many of his worst enimes.
Through the rest of Batman’s visit to Arkham he is tracking down the Joker and having to battle with his worst enemies. From Scarecrow to Killer Croc Batman has a lot to deal with.
This is an A title game in the voice acting, graphics, and game play, everything flows together nicely. Most of the combat controls are one button but it never feels “dumbed down”. The nice thing is unlike other games this one forces you to fight like Batman. You want to run into a room with armed goons to fight and you will die quickly.
Very early in the game you figure out how to sneak around to take guys out. One of the things I enjoyed most was dropping in behind someone, taking him out without making a sound and then disappearing back into the rafters.
This game is a must rent and a possible buy. It will take you about twelve hours to play through and you should end up with about 550 achievement points. The language is very little but there are about five to six curse words total in the twelve hours but none of the big ones.
Bottom line on this game is it’s a must play through so go pick up a copy today and enjoy running around as the big black bat.
